Spaceship Earth
This project was in collaboration with the Edinburgh Science Festival 2025. The theme is inspired by the book ‘Space on Earth. How thinking like an Astronaut can help save the Planet’. The final costume from this design project was showcased at an after-hours exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland.
The narrative of my design unfolds as a performance art instillation within a gallery space exploring the themes of water, air and waste. I was interested by the way the natural resources are cherished and valued when living in space and led me to think about a utopian world where these resources are respected the same way. The instillation will feature three central characters that embody the utopian ideals of each of these themes using rich texture, colour and form. Each utopian character is accompanied by a corresponding dystopian character behind a shadow screen to highlight the tension between these two realities.
